Fingerpicking.net reviews the AC 101H.

March 13, 2018, 3:22 p.m.

Here some excerpts from the review by Mario Giovannini - fingerpicking.net (translated from Italian):

  • The AC101H by Markacoustic features a complete and functional controls layer that has been thought for the pro and the advanced amateur, with many interesting solutions.
  • On my test the AC101H showed a pretty transparent, respecting the original tone of the instruments I used. Using both passive and active systems and also mixing signals it’s not difficult to find an effective and real tone. I got this amp to test while <I was using a classical crossover guitar tuned one octave lower than a regular one and this amp has been able to face such an extreme use without any problem.
  • The VPF control works great but you gotta be careful as it works quite radically. Onboard reverbs are great and the chorus as well, even though I don’t use them that much.

"Talking about a Markacoustic amplifiers is always a pleasure and an honor for me, not just for this brand history which I proudly endorse, but also for the constant research to reach the sound perfection that perfectly matches my personal guitar research. The AC 101H is designed not only for acoustic guitar. Its versatility brings it to be used with hollow body guitars, and that’s nothing strange about that, but also with acoustic bass, double bass and other string instruments like violins, violas and cellos. I use my AC101H with my lap steel and harp guitar as well as it’s designed to work great with both piezo and magnetic pickups. The constant research to perfection brought Markacoustic to introduce a 1” Voice Coil Tweeter on this new AC101H and that gives it a more Hi-Fi type of sound compared to the previous versions that delivered a pretty focused tone anyway. What can I say… that’s a really great amp and it makes a great pair with the smaller brother, the AC801P. Two jewels!"
