Mixdown reviews the DV40 212 combo

March 25, 2013, 8:44 a.m.
March Mixdown’s "Amplification Special" includes a summary of a review of the DV40 212 combo published earlier in the year.

RECOMMENDED FOR: Rock, Blues, Country or Fusion players would dig the DV40 and with its volume range and portability it could be used as a bedroom, rehearsal, gigging or recording amp.

SOUND/TONE/VERSATILITY: When run through the Clean channel it’s super responsive. If you push the gain a little, you get the on the edge compression kinda tone which I dig. Channel 2 works through more distorted tones and thanks to the CPC control you can wind the amp down from 40 watts to 1 watt for getting the most juice out of the amp at lower volumes - great for home use and recording.

USABILITY: The DV40 is easy to get a sound out of and the control panel is well laid out and logical. You’ll be amazed at the amp’s weight too - only 17kgs which isn’t much at all for a 2 x 12 decent sized combo.

CONSTRUCTION: A combination of modern trendy and some Italian flair the DV Mark40 looks great. In all black it’s sleek and restrained but a closer inspection highlights the attention to detail and tasty design touches.

OVERALL: The Markbass brand really continues it’s legacy in build perfection here with their DV Mark guitar amps and added with the ‘ease of portability’ and design characteristics this amp really pays attention to what guitarists want aesthetically and in tone. Top job!
