Giorgio was born in Milan in 1956, and was drawn to music at a young age. He started to play the harp at six, and at ten he received his first guitar from his uncle. He started to play by ear, and began formal lessons at 13. His early heroes included Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix and Alvin Lee. He played in small school bands and took every opportunity to perform.
Not considering music a viable career, he enrolled at an engineering university. During that time he entered a music contest where he was noticed by the famous Italian drummer Tullio De Piscopo, with whom he went on to collaborate with for about four years. That led to playing jazz and fusion with such musicians as Santino Palumbo, Mario Rusca, Luigi Bonafede, Larry Nocella, Lucio Terzano and Julius Farmer. He started to work in recording studios, and as music became a more serious career for him, he started studying again―this time with master teacher Filippo Daccò.
At the same time, he was playing in jazz-fusion bands with such musicians as Alfredo Golino, Antonio Faraò, Stefano Cerri, Amedeo Bianchi, Riccardo Fioravanti, Franco Cristaldi and others. Over the years he gained a wide range of experience with orchestras, live concerts, TV shows, tours with great artists, work as an artistic producer, arranger and as a teacher in various schools. In 1985 he was given the Telegatto award by “TV Sorrisi e Canzoni” magazine.
Over the years, Giorgio has been very dedicated to teaching, working for about 10 years at Centro Professione Musica in Milano, giving monthly workshops at the CIAC school in Rome, and also teaching at Centro Formazione Musicale in Brescia. Currently he is busy with studio recording, TV shows and tours, including the Renato Zero tour in October 2010 for which he used a DV Mark Little 40 head and C 212 cabinet.
